How it works

Set it up once. Let the everyday run itself.

CoHaven takes about ten minutes to set up — then quietly does the remembering, the maths and the message-passing so you can just show up for the kids.

1 Build your schedule

Start with a rotation that fits your life.

Pick 2-2-3, week-on-week-off, or a fully custom pattern — or import the calendar you built with our free Schedule Builder. Add the kids, the handoffs and the holidays once.

  • Ready-made templates for the common rotations
  • Color-coded so each home is obvious at a glance
  • Override any single day for swaps and one-offs

2 Invite your co-parent

They get their own private space.

Send one invite. Your co-parent joins with their own separate account — same shared plan, same calendar, but no one sees the other's private notes. CoHaven works solo too, if they're not ready yet.

  • Separate, private logins — never a shared password
  • One subscription covers the whole family
  • Works on your own until they decide to join
3 Let CoHaven hold the thread

Reminders, balances and changes — handled.

From here it mostly runs itself. Log an expense and it splits and settles. Add an appointment and both homes get reminded. Request a swap and it appears on their side. No chasing, no forty-text threads.

  • Shared costs net to one running balance
  • Reminders reach both homes automatically
  • Every change is timestamped for the record

Everything in one calm place.

Shared calendar

One source of truth for custody days, handoffs and events.

Expenses

Snap, split and settle — with a record for taxes or mediation.

Structured messages

Tied to a date or expense — never an open-ended spiral.

House rules & vault

Shared agreements and documents, in writing, in one place.

And on the hard days

When a handoff gets complicated, it has your back.

A live countdown to the next pickup, a one-tap “on my way,” and a shared “don't forget” list — so the stressful moments stay calm and nothing gets left behind.

  • Countdown and location for the next handoff
  • One-tap status so the other home knows
  • Shared checklist for backpacks, meds and slips

Getting started, answered

How long does setup actually take?
Most families are up and running in about ten minutes: pick a rotation, add your kids, and send one invite. You can refine the details later — nothing has to be perfect on day one.
Do we both need the app on our phones?
CoHaven works on iOS, Android and the web, so you can each use whatever you have. There's also a companion web dashboard for when you're at a computer.
Can grandparents or a sitter see the schedule?
Yes — you can grant a caregiver a scoped, time-limited pass that shows only what they need (say, today's pickup time) and expires on its own.
What if our court order changes mid-year?
You can update the rotation from any date forward without losing the history before it. Past handoffs and expenses stay on the record exactly as they happened.
